Most people celebrate Halloween but they are not sure of the history of it. Why do we trick and treat and why do we wear all type of funny costumes?

Halloween as it is today is a fun day, a day where we can leave seriousness apart and dress as someone else and be someone else. But it was not always like that.
It is believed that the traditions of Halloween have their origin in the Celtic Ireland. On the 31st of October they celebrated their New Year and they believed that all disembodied spirits of people that had died the previous year would come to look for souls to posses for the next year.
So to avoid being possessed so on the night of October 31st all people will make their homes cold by extinguishing their fires, and also would dress in funny costumes and then walk around the neighbours homes in order to avoid being possessed.
The modern Halloween has been influenced by Celtic holiday of Samhain, the Catholic Hallowmas period of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day and the Roman festival of Feralia. By the 19th century Halloween started losing its religious connotation and became a fun holiday for every one.
There are two versions about the origin of The trick and treat. One says that it originated on Souling which was practiced in Europe in the 19th century. the Soul Day on the 2nd of November. On this day the people from the village will walk around asking for “soul cakes” which were pieces of bread with currant. Once they received the cake the people will promise topray for the dead relatives of the cake donors.
The other one says that the Druids will go from house to house demanding food for themselves and if they did not get it then they would curse the people that refised to give them food.
So now that you know a bit about the Halloween history is time to choose a costume.

This is my favorite funny couple Halloween costumes.
The plug will actually fit in the socket.
The socket costume is a black long sleeve tunic with two grey sockets. The bottom socket has opening flaps that allow the plug to fit in it
The white plug is made out of foam, and it goes all around with elastic. It is open at the bottom to allow the person to move easily. The plug has two golden fabric prongs. The cord is also made of foam. The plug is a box made out of foam. It comes out 5” (without considering the prongs) approximately in the front and 1.5 inches in the back, and less than 1” on the sides
The plug costume does not include shirt or trousers.
